Amanda reached out to me last year about her and Drew's June wedding. They were recommended to me by Drew's sister-in-law who I know from church and have done some of their family photos. Its always great to be recommended! <3 So after meeting with them and learning about how they met, how he proposed, and just watching them together I knew their wedding day was going to be amazing.
Drew met Amanda when she was a waitress at Bdubs. He was a little shy at first but he kept coming back regularly and she took notice. They eventually exchanged numbers and started dating shortly after! During their dating stage (if I remember correctly) they started a tradition of writing a letter to each other each year and opening it on Christmas. The letters would be about what they hoped to accomplish in their relationship. One year he wrote a letter about proposing to Amanda and he knew that it would happen within that year to come. When he proposed he took her to the tobacco district under the big water tower, gave her the letter to read, and asked her to spend forever with him. She obviously said yes!
Fast forward to their wedding day.... After getting ready, taking in all of the details, and getting ready to walk down the isle, Drew gave Amanda a gift. He had written her a letter everyday of the week prior to their wedding day. The letters were some about their interactions that days but always ended with how excited he was that he was one day closer to making her his wife. Everyone in the room was in tears as she read each letter out loud.
The ceremony was one to remember as well. After all of the traditional vows, their own that they had written, plus a sand ceremony it was time for the kiss! Drew went in for it and immediately pulled away. The guests were a little confused at first but then they realized that prior to the big day Drew and Amanda had agreed to do their secret handshake right before the kiss. Well Amanda remembered...Drew didn't! Haha. So she quickly reminded him and then they finally had their first kiss as husband and wife!
It was quite a hot day so we got through the family portraits, and wedding party photos but only did a few bride and groom portraits. We knew that by the look of the weather we were going to have a beautiful sunset so we decided to let them cool off and we would steal them away once the sun was setting! It paid off and we were able to capture some stunning images of them!
The food was delicious, the dancing was fun, and the rest of the night went down in the books as the best night of their lives so far! Check out some of their big day below!
